Gameplay
Although there are many new changes added to the game the most important one is where you won’t be killed if fallen into the water. And you now have a few different moves upward strike where your character jumps to strike the enemies present in the sky. You need to master this movie as it becomes very difficult for the controllers to strike and jump at the same time as these flying enemies can be annoying at the same time too. You will be awarded with plenty of new moves as you progress through the level such as magic spells and much more.

Actraiser Renaissance Review
Actraiser Renaissance Review
Actraiser Renaissance 2021 is not a sequel or anything different from the 1991 original Actraiser Renaissance. Although the new release doesn’t change anything story-wise but adds a different taste to the game with a variety of new features added into the game and much more. In this Actraiser Renaissance Review, we will look through all the aspects of the game and give you an exact image of whats the game is actually about. The remake has a modern reimagining taste to it.
You find yourself as an omnipotent being who so happens to bring a heroic statue to life as an avatar for combat and this is where two primary gameplay styles come into play. You are first introduced to a retro but tight 2D action game and then you come across the god simulator where you are tasked with the new civilization.
The opening sequences are often misleading because the first action stage greets you with the epic dueling guitars and includes an awesome boss battle and all of a sudden everything comes to a grinding halt as your angel companion starts talking and talking more before you realize it’s not planning to stop anytime soon it almost feels like you’ve been tricked with the premise of fast-paced action game only to bogged down with the endless tutorials and text as you slowly learn the simulator elements pf the game.
To be fair the original SNES version of act razer did indeed have city-building elements but this was paced so much better and players can now jump into the action at any stage at no time. In the Renaissance, version pacing comes to an absolute snail crawl with numerous text interruptions most of which are utterly dull dialogue and tower defence segments in regards to whether you enjoy tower defence games or not you will likely want these segments over and done with as soon as possible the simulator aspect generally involves guiding the settlers to section areas of the maps.
They usually do all the work and farming and settling up homes and workshops as the divine entity can perform miraculous intervantions and specify a few buildings project as the population grows and new structures are built you are able to recruit new heroes and enhance your defences while the settlement is usually under attack from flying creaturs the real test comes from the tower defence segments where the hordes of enemies will try to destroy the holy temple these segments are frequent and hectic and you’ll honestly bemoan whenever it’s time to defend agent the next enemy horde occasionally.
This segment will allow you to step into enemy portals and destroy the enemy’s spawn source before you know it and you are back to where you were, Grinding whatever is next on your list of god chores being a god is not fun especially when your followers prayers for practically every desire will constantly interrupt you act razor renaissance no doubt has one of the worst openings hours in retro-style gaming the pacing does get better once you have gone through the tutorials and learning the ins and outs of the sim element but it still takes too long in the 2D action stages.
These stages are largely based on the original SNES ones with the same bosses but the stage and even boss design have been altered entirely nevertheless they are generally fantastic and although the core mechanics feel touch dated it still has the feel of some of the best 16bit action games from yesteryear here players engage in some platforming and slashing through enemies before facing the boss with the design variety becoming increasingly interesting yet these stages are quite and over before you know it and then it’s back to answering preyers.
As part of the renaissance effort it’s new graphic style and uses pretty generic anime key art still the game engine uses a unique pre-rendered approach with everyone probably reacting differently the art style is consistent in detail then personally it’s a neat novelty to see smith style pre-rendered graphics on modern hardware.
